Becky Nicks Junior Pioneer Scholarship
    The Old Shawnee Days Society is proud to announce that Justin Flickner, a senior at Shawnee Mission Northwest, is the winner of the 2017 Becky Nicks Junior Pioneer Scholarship Contest.

    Justin will receive a $1,000 college scholarship for his essay on "How Do You Have Fun in Shawnee?" He will read his essay at the Shawnee Chamber of Commerce coffee on Thursday, June 1, and ride in the Old Shawnee Days parade on Saturday, June 3.

    Justin is a member of Link Crew, a mentor group for freshmen, and he has completed home repair projects for the less fortunate though Rebuilding Together Shawnee and Prayer & Action. His involvement with St. Joseph Church includes being a lector and altar server, and Vacation Bible School volunteer.

    Proceeds from the Pie & Baking Contest on Sunday, June 4, will benefit the Becky Nicks Junior Pioneer Scholarship Fund. The scholarship is named in honor of Becky Nicks, a longtime Old Shawnee Days volunteer who passed away in 2010.
